how can you do maintenance of damascus knife?

Here are few suggestions to prevent rust or oxidation:
- Always clean your knife after use (with dry cloth) and apply oil or wax. Vegetable oil or Vaseline work fine.
- Don't store your knife in the leather sheath.
- If the blade is rusted, use a worn sand paper (600 grit) and then use oil.
- If you need to sharpen the blade, use ceramic rod. Hold the knife at 20 degree and gently draw the blade from the handle end to the tip. Repeat on the other side.

Are these real damascus or fake?

There are several kinds of damascus blades available on the web. How do we know if it is genuine damascus or etched?
Genuine damascus carries unique patterns throughout the blade. Sometimes the surface of damascus blades are acid-treated to highlight the different layers. You can polish through the depth of the acid treatment, and the layers may not be visible. That doesn't mean that the pattern isn't still there, just very hard to see without the contrast provided by the etching. You will need to re-etch the blade to get it back. Notice that the same patterns will appear if you re-etch the blade.

Fake (or just etched) blades only have superficial patterns and once removed, you won't get the same patterns back.

Don't forget that the damascus steel is actually layered steel. Hundred of layers of high carbon and high chrome steels are used to make modern damascus blades.
